Holiday Boarding & Vacation Care is often very difficult to find for Guinea Pigs and Small animals (such as rats & mice). Some places offer very cheap boarding, but what are you really getting with this service?
At Palm View, we can guarantee confidence, peace of mind and reasonable rates for your animals, whilst you are away. You can be assured that your beloved pets will be cared for, health monitored daily, and are looked after inside the security of my own home.

Boarders are kept in hutches, on clean, fresh, wood shavings, they are given fresh water daily, unlimited seasonal hay (currently a lovely Grassy Hay), Palm View Guinea Pig Mix & a large variety of fresh herbs, salad, vegies & fruits twice a day inlcuding those that are in the highest form of vitamin C. They will also have access to supervised Grass/Lawn Time with weather permitting when available.
Palm View Manager - Alina spends the majority of her time in the shelter, so the animals are always well observed.
Boarding pigs are kept in comfort and never have to battle with any weather or seasonal elements. My boarding room is stress free, quiet and calm. In colder months they are kept warm and warmer months, cooling procedures are always in place.
As I do offer indoor boarding, spaces are limited so please book in as soon as possible so your pets dont miss out.
The Cavy Courtyard Shelter offers semi outdoor boarding in hutch banks - they too will be cared for in the exact same mannor as the Palm View Shelter.

Q? HOW ARE THE BOARDING FEES/RATES WORKED OUT?
GUINEA PIGS - Boarding rates are a simple, one price package of $5 per day, per hutch of up to THREE pigs per enclosure. If there will be more than 3 pigs per enclosure - an extra $1 per pig, fee will be applied. If you require two seperate hutches - a fee of $10 per day will be charged.
RATS - can use a shelter hutch or their own if transportable (please enquire). Rat boarding is $1.50 per day for each rat and a full service board is included with rats and mice as well.
Ratty diets will consist of Palm View's Ratty mix in constant supply, rodent blocks in a constant supply - they will also be served a yummy breakfast and will also be served dinner as well. This may consist of a warm pasta meal, fruit porridge or anything on the menu. Boarding Rats will also be given daily treats of vegies or fruit on availability.
Boarding fees, directly support the Shelter's Constant Medical Requirements & Vet Expenses, on a daily basis. Without the help and support from our boarding service - this would not be possible. Previously Adopted Shelter Pigs (from my shelter) will get a bonus discount of $1 per day, during their stay.
Q? HOW CAN I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT MY PETS WILL BE SAFE?
Due to having extensive experience in guinea pigs who have required medical attention, health complaints can be picked up/treated in time. In the event where your pet may require urgent medical assistance, I am able to take your pig to see my Shelter Vet 'Michelle Barton' (the owner will be notified firstly, I am then capable of administering the vet medical requirements etc - all medical procedures/costs will be agreed upon & charged to the owner's account on return). I have a boarding contract that is filled out on the day your pigs will be brought to the shelter - this will allow us to always have emergency contacts etc available in case of this small chance.
Q? CAN WE HAVE OUR PIGS GROOMED? WHAT OTHER SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MY PETS ON BOARD?
PALM VIEW GROOMING SERVICE -Want your pigs bathed and groomed whilst they are boarding? - Grooming packages can also be incorporated into your guinea pig's stay & can be simply added to your account total. To view our grooming packages - visit the Grooming section of my website.
'Hair cuts for the FunkyPig' - hair clipping specialist will drop by to give your pig a desired hair do - Lion Cuts are my favourite...

Palm View Boarding Photos are available for purchase if ordered during your animal's boarding stay. A beautiful photo will be taken of your pet and will be printed and laminated for you when you return. Photos cost $2.50 each , single pets, or up to 2 animals per photo. Examples of portrait pics are on my facebook page under holiday boarders. Size is for a 6 x 4 colour pic.
BONUS SERVICE for Boarders staying over 2 weeks and longer - will receive our full salon/grooming and Mite/Mange/Fungal treatment service for FREE. (Nail clipping will be included for free regardless of duration).
Q? WHAT IF I NEED SPECIAL CARE FOR MY ANIMALS?
SPECIAL NEEDS BOARDING/SICK PIG BOARDING...
Due to so many sick, injured and hurt shelter pigs always in my care - my guinea pig experience and quick judgement will ensure that your sickly, piggies will also be safe during their vacation stay at my shelter. Sometimes, people are forced to seek a safe environment for their beloved pets that are suffering from older age issues or require palliative care whilst they are away - OR are forced to find care during their pig's delicate post operative care or pre existing condition.
Palm View Resort, also offers a secure place for Special Need's boarders or Guinea Pigs requiring extra medical attention or dealing with an ongoing health issue. Please email to discuss your guinea pig's health condition and their special requirements - I can also give you 'peace of mind' that your guinea pig will be thoroughly monitored for their stay.
I am able to administer medication, special dietry requirements, portion requirements or any other issues. I am competant and experienced in this field. I will however, require all information regarding your animal's illness, in the best interests of quarantine and the protection against other boarding animals and shelter animals at the Palm View Shelter. If you have been given medicine from your vet, I will be able to continue it's medication during their stay.
A special Requirement/Medicated/Hand Fed/Syringe Fed etc - guinea pig will cost $10 per day (per special pig), on top of regular boarding fees.... a very small price, for the added time I offer to keep your pet comfortable and healthy whilst you are away.

This extra option has been added to my boarding service as many client's have found they have required the extra assistance with their piggies or elderly pigs and in a lot of these cases - also required me to take their pigs to the vet on several occassions during their stay.
