'PALM VIEW' - Take a Journey Behind the Scenes

FOSTER TO ADOPT PROGRAM

The Palm View Shelter's, Foster to Adopt program, has been put into place to benefit those who are looking to adopt, but aren't quite sure if the animals are suitable for their situation or family.

The Foster to Adopt Program is available for Guinea Pigs, Rats or Mice.  The process is very simple and your foster animals can be organised within a couple of days.

With all FTA animals, you will be receiving the same gender pets that are already in their compatable pair up. Generally the foster to adopt pets are those who are currently up for adoption so they will already be in well bonded pairs etc.  You can view the current adoptables under Adoption - Guinea Pig (this area also contains the adoptable rats and mice).

Foster to Adopt pets will come with all inclusive necessities,  for what you will require during the animal's stay at your home.  You will be supplied with housing, bedding, water bottles/bowls, food dishes and any other creature comforts that are required.  All food resources will be supplied by the shelter and the animals are to remain on this diet as it is good quality ingredients, fresh and what the animals are living on in the shelter.

The foster carer will be required to feed fresh vegies, salads and/or grass for guinea pigs and a suitable diet for rats (other than the food that will be supplied) on a daily basis. This will not only help you to understand their correct diets - but to also keep the shelter animals in peak condition whilst on foster care.

Care guides, dietry guides and medical information will be supplied for all foster to adopt clients - the shelter manager will always be available via email through out the duration of foster care - and also ongoing after adoption.

If you decide the animals are not what you had expected, or do not work in with your family - you will then be able to return all shelter belongings and animals to the shelter.  In the event that you would like to adopt your foster animals, you can then proceed with the adoption. Correct and suitable housing will need to be purchased etc.

For more details or to enquire about fostering to adopt - please contact the shelter manager with any questions.
