Have you ever considered adopting a smaller little family member? Rats and Mice are beautiful animals and make fantastic family pets. Palm View has years upon years of mousey experience and also has resident pet mice and rats at the shelter for patting and cuddling. Late 2011, Palm View Shelter opened a mousery side which involves shelter mice, homeless mice, mice that have come in pregnant and also our show quality, Pet Mice.My website (link below) is full of information regarding our gorgeous little furry friends and keeps you updated with shows and all things mousey - keep an eye on the facebook page as well - which has the most up to date photos of our adoptables and litter news.

Please Note - our rats, mice and guinea pigs will not be used for snake food, reptile food or breeding programs. All animals will be rehomed in same genders only.
In January 2011, Palm View Shelter, has opened their doors to welcome some of our smaller friends. Mice will be available for adoption through out the year and will also be available to purchase in a complete mouse set up when available. Our Mousery is called My Little Mouse.
My Little Mouse, make their own Rat & Mouse Munchie Mix which is available to purchase by order. Other supplies such as various bedding, accessories, will also be available to purchase from the Shelter.
If you are looking to surrender mice or rats - please email the shelter manager with details as spaces for our Rodents are quite limited.
Foster to Adopt is a new program, where an individual or family, is able to see if mice are what their family is looking for. Foster to Adopt packages can be arranged for a 1 week or 2 week period - all inclusive. If the decision is then made to adopt - appropriate housing can then be purchased or in some cases, the foster package will be available for purchase.Please enquire if you would like to foster to adopt - guinea pigs, rats and mice are included in the Foster to Adopt program.
General Foster Carers are also welcome to apply.

We have a few different options for bedding with Mice and Rats, prices vary in between but all mouse and rat supplies come in the largest zip lock sized bag.
- Breeders Choice Litter - newspaper pellet form. (other paper mulch brands may be available)
- Woodshavings - affective but not overly recommended for rats in particular, due to the dust which can cause Myco flair ups/Respiratory upsets. $3.50 per bag - have used it successfully with mice.
- Natty Cat - lucerne pellet litter - great for masking smells.
- Max's Pet Litter - Copp Rice product - granules.
Rat & Mouse Munchie Mix - Consisting of a huge healthy variety of human consumption and organic ingredients $6.50 per bag
- Complete packages for mice will consist of a mouse house, food bowls, mouse wheel, house, water bowl or bottle, mice, bedding and food. Prices may vary depending on the type of housing in the package. A pair of same gender mice will be included.
- Standard Mouse Package fully inclusive from $45- $60 (depending on the housing used - may be a little more).
