GUINEA GOSSIP
The Australian Cavy Sanctuary is a Not for Profit, Non Funded, Volunteer based Organisation, dedicated to the ongoing care, commitment and wellbeing of all guinea pigs - particularly those in need.
The ACS Lakes Shelter is Qld's Second Largest Australian Cavy Sanctuary Shelter and has been operating now for over 2 years. My shelter is home to over 120 guinea pigs at any given time and can cater for up to 180 happily. This may include permanent resident piggies, specials needs and boarding pigs, quarantined, ill and perfectly healthy 'adoptable pigs'.
Since officially opening as an ACS shelter, I have seen my fair share of 'Horror Stories', mistreatment, neglect and unspeakable cruelty. Guinea pigs are still continuously looked upon as a low cost, easily disposable kid's pets.... the animal they get 'BEFORE' they are ready for a puppy.
This isnt the case with the ACS, my shelter is proud to adopt with high standards - ensuring that my once mistreated adoptables, have been rescued, rehabilitated and then the rewards of finding their new families.... Forever!!! Guinea Gossip is the 'behind the scenes' of ACS Lakes shelter, I will share the good with the bad and take you on a journey that Shelter Life shows me on a daily basis.
Along the way, you will meet some special piggies - current adoptables and their stories, Foster carers & Piggy Friends and of course, some of my shelter incoming cases.
